So you created some great forms and people are really into using them.  Guess what happens next?  New ideas keep popping up to improve them!  Don't worry.  Apex Forms makes it easy to quickly introduce changes without disrupting in-flight requests.

What Are Versions?

In IBM BAW you can version your application by taking a snapshot using the base functionality.  Each version is a separate copy of the forms, sections and fields that comprise the request type or library.

Tip Version

When you are working in BAW development environment, you are working on what is known as the Tip of the application. It is the most current version of the application and may not have been pushed into the upper environment yet. This is where you can implement new ideas and changes to an existing process flow diagram, or even make a new one. The Apex Forms Design application will always look at the tip of your application when generating your forms. This is where the initial testing of your forms will happens as it is the efficient place to make changes before promoting a new version.

Publishing a Version

When you are done making changes to the tip, you can freeze it by taking a snapshot of your application. This snapshot can then be deployed using the standard BAW deployment techniques into the upper environments (Stage, QA, Production). Deploying a new snapshot will not affect any in-flight instances unless they are migrated.
